They arrest Cuban migrants abandoned on the highway in Mexico

Police in Mexico arrested more than 400 migrants abandoned on a highway. Those detained by the Aztec authorities were left to their fate in three tourist buses from the state of Veracruz. The official figure rose to 407 people led away by local police, as revealed in an official statement.

The note explains that the arrested migrants come from seven countries in the Caribbean, Central and South America. In no case could the regular stay in Mexican territory be verified.

For example, the group includes 264 adults who were traveling alone, 12 of them were born in Cuba.

The rest of the detainees arrived in Mexico from the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua. All those arrested were transferred to the Acayucan immigration station.

The local police, through their own statement, announced that another 91 people were traveling as part of family units (30 women, 15 men and 46 minors under 18 years of age).

It also emerged that 52 children and adolescents were alone. These 143 migrants were immediately taken to the municipal “Grow, Trust and Wait” shelter of the System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (DIF).

Several federal and state officers detected these 407 people. All of them were traveling in terrible conditions in the three aforementioned buses. The abandonment of the migrants occurred on the Minatitlán-Acayucan highway.

Migration crisis

It is a fact that this case is not the first nor will it be the last to go to the archives of the Mexican police.

The migration crisis is getting worse every day throughout the Latin American region and for now there is no solution in the short or medium term.

The reality that Mexico experiences regarding migrants is shared by the rest of the countries that precede it geographically.

There are thousands of people seeking to reach United States territory through the southern border.
