The doctor Mara Celina Fares presents “Nationalist left and right in the 60s. University and local press at the national and international crossroads” at the 48th Buenos Aires International Book Fair by Editorial Prometeo. It will be on Saturday, May 11 at 6:00 p.m. at stand 822, Green Pavilion, La Rural Fairgrounds, Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. The author signs copies.

The book addresses the intellectual trajectories of a broad spectrum of Argentine nationalism, ranging from right to left, and the political and historiographic debates that took place in the universities and press of Mendoza in connection with international scenarios marked by the Cold War.

The work is of interest not only for professionals in history and social sciences, but for anyone interested in delving into the political conflict of the 1960s. Mainly, at a time when the right has re-emerged and disputes not only for power but for the construction of identity through a cultural battle that has long roots in national and provincial history.

About the work

“The importance of the work lies in the comprehensive and erudite analysis of the different facets of the nationalist right in Mendoza and its multiple international connections. They show to what extent a regional case allows us to rethink the study in a more complex and problematic way. of an Argentine political tradition too often viewed unilaterally”

Fernando Devoto

“…it is an original elaboration in its empirical support and in its meaning for historiography.” “Some of these sources, as well as the explanation of the relationships between intellectual itineraries and the data provided on their participation in cultural institutions, constitute truly novel contributions…”

Julio Cesar Meln Pirro

“The structure of the argument is very good, the conceptual apparatus used is coherent and refined, the knowledge of the theme of nationalism and the period in which the analysis is framed is excellent”

Daniel Lvovich

“…this is a welcome contribution to a field in the process of expansion, which works on relevant cases and builds, from a perspective of dialogue between Intellectual History and the History of Intellectuals with Political History, a journey that shows the alternatives of Mendoza nationalism in a broad map that goes beyond the “long sixties”
