Maserati presented an ultra-luxurious all-electric jet ski

Translated from Italian as “lightning”, Folgore is the umbrella brand for Maserati’s all-electric propulsion vehicles. That includes possibly the most interesting member of that select club, the Tridente all-electric luxury jet ski.

At a show featuring Dardust, Edwige Pezzulli and Matilda De Angelis, the spark and passion of this iconic Italian brand came to full display when Maserati announced the Folgore “Made in Thunder” models. The event underlined the status of Italians as party starters and mood changers, stating that “wherever we go, boom! Things light up.”

Two models of the Maserati Folgore brand “Forged in Thunder”, the Folgore GranCabrio convertible car and the Folgore Tridente luxury watercraft, were presented on Folgore Day.

Celebrated on Maserati’s 110th anniversary, the event also served to present the GranTurismo Folgore all-electric car, the Grecale Folgore all-electric SUV and the GranCabrio Folgore convertible version of its Gran Turismo sister. The debut of the MC20 Folgore supercar is planned for 2025. By 2028, with the planned launch of the Quattroport Folgore, Maserati’s Folgore “adrenelectric” range of vehicles will be fully electrified.

About the boat

With dimensions of 10.5 meters, the Trident is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 40 knots with a cruising speed of 25 knots and a range of 70 km. The maximum power of 600 HP and the battery capacity of 252 kWh achieve a complete recharge in less than an hour. This elegant superyacht companion would be at home as a yacht tender, whether in or Montauk, or solo cruising any beautiful lake, be it Como, Tahoe or Lucerne.

The cabin can be configured for either cruising or dining, seating eight passengers comfortably. In addition to the wraparound bench, an aft-facing sofa on the bathing platform allows for additional perch at anchor. A ladder and hand shower are nice bathing platform amenities. The lower cabin houses a bunk bed and a small bathroom.

Maserati partnered with Vita Power to offer a high-performance electric and integrated electric propulsion system. Vita is a marine technology company founded to reduce the impact on the marine environment through ecosystems specifically designed for recreational and commercial vessels. The Vita Power system is supported by dedicated marine fast charging infrastructure.

Maserati Chief Designer Klaus Busse stated: Maserati and Vita Power share the same vision on electrification and both build the vehicles of the future, based on reducing environmental impact, improving the customer experience, advanced technology, high quality and sophisticated materials. Our creations are both finished to the highest standards of craftsmanship, enhanced by beautiful and functional design, without sacrificing performance and elegance. The Maserati Folgore is the standard bearer of our all-electric production, and we are proud to extend our new direction to the sea, collaborating with a company synonymous with passion, excellence and luxury in the new electric era.

Sculpted from carbon fiber, the vessel was completed by American builder Hodgdon Yachts. A noted marine craftsman located in Damariscotta, Maine, Hodgdon has a 200-year history of precision boatbuilding, manufacturing custom tenders for many of the world’s elegant superyachts.

Maserati, the only luxury brand in the group of brands of parent company Stellantis, has just introduced the Trident at Folgore Day in Rimini (Italy), which commemorates the 110th anniversary of the Maserati brand.

Hodgdon Yachts Managing Director Audrey Hodgdon acknowledged: “This is the first fully electric boat we have built and we are delighted to be involved in the project. Our company began over 200 years ago and it is exciting that electrification is now part of our story going forward.

Made In Thunder, and Made In Italy

Under the Stellantis brand, Maserati remains 100% designed, developed and manufactured in Italy. The CEO of the Maserati brand, David Grasso, commented at the Folgore Day celebration: “Today we write the future. We are masters of our destiny. We lead the change”, concluding: “We are Maserati. We light the future.”

Electric vehicles, known for their silent starting and acceleration, could require a rewriting of the well-known “Maserati music.” Some prefer silence, but others may be looking for something more. Whether the Folgore line, both boats and cars, will maintain the characteristic Maserati sound is still in doubt. The answers are available for $2,660,000, with the first helmet already on the market and available.
