European index futures point to a higher opening of the cash session in the Old Continent today. This comes despite mixed trading on Wall Street yesterday and in the Asia-Pacific region today. The Japanese yen is the biggest laggard among major currencies after the Bank of Japan left rates unchanged and unexpectedly decided to keep bond purchases unchanged.

The economic calendar for the coming day is very light. Traders will be offered final May CPI inflation data from France and Poland, as well as the second-tier Canadian wholesale sales report for April. Some additional volatility is possible following the release of data from the University of Michigan and speeches by members of the ECB and the Federal Reserve.
