Eduardo Yáñez defends himself after altercation with reporter whose cell phone he took: “I didn’t attack anyone”

Actor Eduardo Yáñez reappeared publicly after the confrontation he had with reporter Paty Cuevas during the red carpet of the Hispanic Grandeza Awards, where he snatched her cell phone while she questioned him about his religious beliefs and his attitude towards the press.

The artist known for melodramas like “Destilando Amor” explained through a video call for the program All for women the reason why he took Cuevas’ mobile device, which ultimately sparked a riot at the event.

“Paty excuse me if I grabbed your cell phone, but you can’t be itching my back, why are you going to itch me? On the other hand, they took me inside, I didn’t leave the place either, they took me inside, then with the cell phone I told him ‘wait for me, I’ll give it to you right now’, (…) there was no way I would let it go in his floor or he would throw it at him,” Yáñez detailed about the incident.

After explaining that his assistant tried to return the cell phone minutes later, Eduardo commented: “he took it and this girl was already in a… it seems like she was… I didn’t know anymore, but it seems like she was in a crisis because they had pushed and pulled each other there.” between all the fellow journalists with the security guys, and it was a mess.”

After mentioning that the event he attended was not properly organized, the 63-year-old actor pointed out: “that is neither my fault nor Paty’s fault, that is, at a given moment I take responsibility for taking the cell phone, that’s all, but I didn’t attack anyone (…) several people tried to return the cell phone, I don’t know if she accepted it… at this point I don’t know where the cell phone was.”

Later, Lalo stressed: “I take responsibility for his stick.” [selfie stick]…if she thinks I broke it, I don’t see it that way, because when I took the cell phone, she was poking me behind me, when I took the cell phone she pulled back to pull it, and that’s where she got away.”

However, after a collaborator of journalist Maxine Woodside mentioned that the entire event was caused by Yáñez’s action of taking his colleague’s phone, Yáñez replied angrily:

“What detonated was the chase they set up, the cell phone has nothing to do with it (…) that’s how it was, I’m not lying, and there are 20 thousand shots, from all angles… where it can be seen that at no time did I attack nobody”.

And upon finding out that Paty Cuevas reported him to the authorities for theft, the actor responded:

“Whatever is necessary, I am going to do, if she sues me because she believes that she was attacked by me, I have to show up, I have to defend my position, but it is a shame that we come to this point… no matter how much I I behave friendly, it seems that I seem rude to them, even though I am relaxed, it seems that I seem aggressive to them, even though I give an answer to all the questions they ask me, it seems that they say I hate the press and I don’t love them to answer”.

Finally, Eduardo expressed his regret for having attended the gala that now has him under the spotlight of Internet users and the authorities, in addition to taking advantage of the moment to send a message to Paty Cuevas.

“It’s a shame that it’s come to this, and this has to do with the sum of insistence on her part, that every time she interviews me she asks me very aggressive questions, not only about me, but about my colleagues, where she pretends that talk bad about my teammates or say negative things about my teammates,” he concluded.
