World Association of Transgender Medicine improvises treatments

Since 2007, the World Association of Transgender Medicine (WPATH) has been dedicated to ensuring that minors have access to gender-affirming care, including puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries to align their bodies with their identity. transgender that they themselves declare.

This access is obtained by those who receive a “gender incongruent” diagnosis, provided they demonstrate emotional and cognitive maturity and are required to provide informed consent for treatment.

However, Environmental obtained a video from the Association’s internal panel titled “Evolution Workshop Identity,” from May 6, 2022, where members admitted the impossibility of adequately informing their young patients’ consent for hormonal interventions.

Even in this space the Canadian endocrinologist Daniel Metzger, discussed the challenges faced in obtaining consent from adolescents seeking this medical treatment.

“Gender doctors often explain these kinds of things to people who haven’t even studied biology in high school yet. Also, adult patients consistently have very little medical understanding of the effects of these interventions,” said the Dr. Metzger according to the Environmental Progress publication.

Likewise, he confessed that informed consent is being violated, by allowing minors to give their approval to a treatment that could result in sterility, and by implying that they have the cognitive capacity to make a decision that will affect their future.

Group does not follow medical parameters

The Association presents itself as an organized scientific group, with standards of care based on the best available science and expert knowledge with professional consensus.

In 2022, the United States Undersecretary of Health, Rachel Levine indicated that this group is free of any agenda other than ensuring that decisions are based on science.

Likewise, in 2023 the president of the group Marcy Bowersaccording to a New York Times publication, said that the field of transgender medicine is evolving rapidly, and that it is completely goal-oriented and results-oriented like any other specialty of medicine.

The statements contrast with the reality of a scientific method, which is systematic, focused on creating facts through rigorous testing and experimentation. It involves observing a medical condition that requires intervention and creating a hypothesis – made with controlled trials – about an effective treatment.

In addition to this, the files mentioned in the publication of Environmental Progress, from WPATH, have evidence that the group does not respect scientific processes.

“Bowers makes it very clear that there is no scientific rigor to the treatment protocol when talking about how little is known about the impact that puberty blockers have on the sexual function of natal men later in life,” says the publication.

Also in January 2022, the president acknowledged in a forum that the effect of puberty blockers on fertility and the onset of the body’s response is not yet fully understood.

According to the publication, almost everything she said in this forum is proof that the transgender leader advocates an unregulated experiment on young people.

“The fertility question has not been pursued and before prepuberty, the dysphoria is enormous, making it perhaps preferable to use puberty blockers at a later time,” Dr. Bowers said.

For the author of the publication in Environment, Mia Hughes, The use of the word perhaps suggests that doctors are improvising, experimenting without a well-structured framework and unable to track the outcome of the experiment.

He points out that this is acceptable in a small experiment, but is unethical when the top American doctors in an association recommend the treatment and a broad medical community accepts it.

Another piece of information that was infiltrated is that in the WPATH forums there is constant discussion about the effects of hormones between sexes on people’s sexual function.

For example, a nurse in March 2022 told of the development of pelvic inflammatory disease in a young patient who received testosterone for three years. She has vaginal atrophy that makes sexual intercourse difficult, painful, and causes distressing urinary symptoms.

Activists disguised as doctors

For the author of the publication in Environmental Progress, the members of the association are a marginal group of activists and researchers, disguised as doctors, defending that a hormonal and surgical experiment be carried out on vulnerable members of society.

“It would be criminal for a surgeon to cut the spines of a person who identified himself as quadriplegic, or to blind a sighted patient who identified himself as blind. Just as it is unethical to destroy healthy reproductive systems and amputate the healthy breasts and genitals of mentally ill people,” she points out.

He adds that doing these types of procedures without even first helping people overcome their mental illnesses, and without realistically preparing people for situations such as the postoperative period, amounts to a medical problem, to high-level negligence.
