The competition was held on the Carlos Valentín García track in the Osorno Olympic Village and received almost 900 athletes from the regions of Los Ríos to Puerto Natales.

The Twenty-Third Los Lagos Mixed Interscholastic Athletics Tournament was recently held in Osorno in which the Puerto Varas School was the big winner, both in men and women.

The tournament was held at the “Carlos Valentín G” Athletic Track. in the Osorno Olympic Village, under the organization of the Tenth Region Regional Athletic Association and the Santiago Athletic Club.

The first stage was held on the afternoon of Friday, April 19, the second during the morning of Saturday, April 20, and the last stage of the finals was during the afternoon of the same day.

During the tournament, Valentina Cancino, from the Nueva España School, from the commune of Los Lagos, lowered the time of the 800 meter dash in the women’s children’s category, achieving a mark of 2’15”63, leaving María Fernanda’s time behind. Aguilar, who in 2006 achieved a time of 2’19”18. Thanks to her performance, the athlete won the award as the best athlete of the tournament.

“I prepared a lot to be able to break the record. I had strong training sessions with a lot of speed to be able to make a good time and finish quickly. It is very important to promote school sports, especially for boys and girls, as it helps us have fun and relax. In addition, they are a good opportunity to gain experience and reach professional tournaments,” said the athlete.

The big winners of this twenty-third interscholastic tournament were the Puerto Varas School, which achieved first place in men, leaving the German Institute of Osorno in second place and the German School of Puerto Varas in third place. In the ladies the same podium was repeated.
