The protagonist of this fictional film is Lola Amores, whose outstanding performance has earned her praise from critics and the public, and also several awards, the most recent of which she won a few days ago as best actress at the Havana Film Festival in New York, but this time for his performance in A Night with the , by Patricia Ramos.

In The Wild Woman (2023) the actress plays Yolanda, a 40-year-old woman who survives a bloody fight in which her husband almost kills her lover in a poor Havana neighborhood.

After this violent event that will radically change her life, she travels around the city to try to find her son while the video of the incident goes viral and social judgment towards her intensifies.

And about Lola Amores, Prensa Latina spoke exclusively with the director Alán González, who did not skimp on highlights dedicated to the performer, and admitted that she has been a kind of revelation for the Cuban public despite her extensive career backed by international awards in theater and cinema.

As she is an actress who has not worked on television in her country, the general public at home did not know her, the filmmaker explained.

But by seeing her at the last International Latin American Film Festival in Havana with her participation In the Wild Woman and One Night with the Rolling Stones (also in The Oceans Are the True Continents), viewers were able to get a sense of who Lola Amores is. on stage, he stated.

The public was able to appreciate her in two very opposite characterizations, with different voices, different movements, and looks.

One could say then that this actress is here to stay, but she has been here for a long time and is great among the greats of Cuban cinematography, González celebrated.

The director described the interpretation of Amores in the skin of his character Yolanda as a key factor in his film, because it is a character film that tells the story of an imperfect woman, but perfect in that imperfection.

For the young filmmaker, The Wild Woman is a work that defends those people who supposedly make mistakes and that society often tramples on and questions, instead of understanding them and giving them a hand.

In González’s opinion, this role for Amores was a very big challenge because its protagonist Yolanda here faces a whole constellation of characters who in one way or another come to judge her for her relationship with her son and the events of her own life.

Certainly a challenge thrown into a production that can be seen starting this April in the main Cuban cities, as part of the celebrations for the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industries (Icaic).

As for Lola Amores, with the recent victory of the Best Actress award at the Havana Film Festival in New York, she won her second international award in 2024, since last March she won the Silver Biznaga for Best Female Performance at the 27th Malaga Film Festival, Spain, for his work on The Wild Woman.

Already in November 2023, the Cuban interpreter had been crowned with a similar award at the 33rd edition of the Ceará Film Festival, held in Brazil.

Film events in cities as diverse as Toronto, Rotterdam, Malaga and Miami witness the successful passage of The Wild Woman, which now begins its journey with Icaic to be appreciated throughout Cuba.
