They arrested a leader of La Libertad Avanza

This Sunday morning the Santa Elena Police arrested the leader of La Libertad Avanza and former candidate for councilor, José Luis Casals, for assault on his partner and resistance to authority.

According to the police report from the Department of La Paz, which was accessed ONEthe authorities were present at the intersection of Avenida San Martín and Viale, where they found that Casals was physically attacking his partner “holding her by the neck”. Upon noticing the police presence, the referent “tried to escape”. The file, noted under number 4,398, was initiated on October 14, 2023 by Casals’ couple.

The officers took the victim to a police station, where moments later the former candidate appeared and tried to attack her again, but “was reduced and controlled”. It is worth remembering that Casals was a candidate for councilor for the “La Libertad Por Siempre” list in Santa Elena.

As a result of this fact, The La Paz Prosecutor’s Office ordered the arrest of Casals for “resistance to authority and minor injuries in the context of gender violence”but then he was free, according to prosecutor Josefina Caballero. The sixthbecause the couple “she denied having been attacked and did not want to be examined by a doctor who could verify the alleged injuries”. Nevertheless, The judicial official clarified that the case “not archived” and an attempt will be made to move forward in the search for evidence to verify whether the event occurred or not.
