On a visit to the La Guafilla Penitentiary Center in Yopal, activist Johana Bahamón, representative of the Fundación Acción Interna, and the governor of Casanare, César Ortiz Zorro, shared a morning with the prison staff. The purpose of this visit was to learn more about the resocialization endeavors and projects carried out by the inmates and to provide support and recognition for their initiatives.

The Governor expressed his admiration for the work led by Johana Bahamón and expressed his union with the cause of dignifying the quality of life of the prison and post-prison population of Colombia. In addition, he shared on her social networks that her taxi driver friend José de ella had the opportunity to meet the activist and transport her in her vehicle.

During the tour, Bahamón highlighted the commitment of the Casanare Government to the continuous improvement of the living conditions of inmates and to the promotion of second chances. He stated that the Government’s commitment motivates them to continue working together.

As a result of this visit, a commitment was made to support the creation of a hammock weaving brand, an initiative that symbolizes the hope and talent of those seeking to reintegrate into society through work and creativity. The Fundación Acción Interna and the Government of Casanare will continue to work hand in hand to ensure that these projects are not only a reality, but an example of social transformation inside and outside the prison walls.
