“Friendly fire” between troops of the National Army in the department of Guaviare left two soldiers dead and one injured. According to what was known, the events would have occurred in a rural area of ​​the municipality of Calamar.

According to official information provided by the Army, the events occurred this Wednesday, May 22, after 7:00 in the morning, when two soldiers began an argument, which caused one of them to disproportionately shoot his companion, who He immediately died.

As he knew Colpress, another of the soldiers who was at the scene tried to intervene, but he also received a shot that left him injured and he was transferred to a care center in San José del Guaviare. The attacker finally took his own life when he saw his partner dead and the other injured.

After the confusing events, the judicial authorities moved forward with the removal of the bodies of the two lifeless soldiers and activated the necessary protocol to provide care to the families of the soldiers involved.

“The Family Center of the Twenty-Second Brigade, activated the corresponding protocols that the institution has, to provide relevant care to the families of the military personnel involved. Likewise, as an institution, we send a message of solidarity and condolences to the families for this difficult moment,” the Army said.

In the middle of their patrol, the soldiers allegedly opened fire on their companions, thinking that they were members of the FARC dissidents who were in the area. However, this is not the only version that has emerged about this case.

Although it was initially speculated that the soldier had shot his companions when he believed they were FARC dissidents, The Army confirmed that it was actually a case of intolerance.

Less than a week ago, a soldier murdered his companion with his service weapon in the Military Canton, in Usaquén, north of Bogotá. Shortly after the crime, the attacker was captured in flagrante delicto.
