In a meeting parallel to the XXVII edition of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (Spief 2024), the president of the institution of the Caribbean nation, Joel Archer, explained to the rector of the house of higher studies Yuri Mikhalchevsky the aspirations of resuming studies of Cubans in different specialties related to aviation. “In terms of training, our country is evaluating the preparation of future pilots, which is why we are interested in being here with you and knowing your potential in this and other related specialties,” emphasized the Antillean manager.
In this regard, he recognized the important role played by this educational entity in past decades in the preparation of Cuban specialists, who are currently active in the island’s aviation system.
Archer stressed that currently the academic center has an extensive program and technical conditions for the preparation of technicians and pilots, having the latest generation equipment.
“The link between the Cuban and Russian academia is of utmost importance, with the support of both countries it will be possible to achieve the goal of reestablishing the teaching process in order to implement the development plans to expand the training and training of the aeronautical sector of Cuba,” Archer said.
In that sense, Mikhalchevsky explained to the president of Cacsa and the delegation that accompanies him that a considerable number of students are prepared annually at his university, who then contribute to the needs of this area of the Eurasian giant.
“The Civil Aviation University of Saint Petersburg carries out the complete preparation of its specialists through undergraduate programs for five years, as well as postgraduate courses, master’s degrees and doctorates. It would be a pleasure to host Cuban colleagues at our headquarters,” said the rector.
Mikhalchevsky added that the training at this center seeks to ensure that professionals, both pilots and flight operators, are not only behind the aircraft, but in front of them, knowing the potential of the performance area.
Likewise, he explained that the teaching facility also studies Economics and Law courses, suitable for the aerial world.
At the end of the meeting, both directors shared with students who are preparing for their final exams and recalled anecdotes from when they graduated from this institution in 1987 (Mikhalchevsky) and 1989 (Archer).
