This Monday, June 10, 2024, the Justice of San Juan sentenced three of the four “auto openers” from Tucumán. Those arrested for the theft of $200,000, which they took from a backpack that was inside a van, reached an abbreviated trial agreement. While a fourth suspect decided not to abbreviate and go to a hypothetical trial. The men ended up arrested after being identified as the people who opened a vehicle parked in front of the Patio Alvear, in Desmparados, Capital. The victim had gone out to shop when the robbery occurred.

The defendants Iván Alejandro Aguilera, Sergio Marcelo Romera and Juan Manuel Orso, reached an abbreviated sentence for the crime of theft qualified by use of a lockpick, false key or other similar instrument. According to the investigation, the individuals used signal inhibitors so that the owner of the truck would not leave the vehicle locked when locking it with the key.

The defendants Aguilera and Romera were sentenced to two years in prison with conditional execution and Orso was sentenced to two years in prison with effective execution. With respect to the fourth defendant Pablo Augusto De La Silva, the defense did not agree to abbreviate, therefore the preparatory criminal investigation was formalized for a period of one year.

On May 23, 2024, a man left his Dodge truck, model RAM 1500, parked on Avenida Libertador General San Martín and Alvear Street, in Desamparados, Capital.

The investigation by the UFI – Crimes against Property, led by prosecutor Claudia Salica, was able to determine that the now convicted Iván Alejandro Aguilera, Sergio Marcelo Romera, and Juan Manuel Orso, natives of the province of Tucumán along with De La Silva, are still under investigation, they used signal inhibitors to prevent the central locking and alarm of the victim’s truck from being activated, deploying logistics that included two vehicles that acted as support, following the victim to the interior of the business in order to monitor his movements and act safely until you achieve your goal.

The security cameras and the geolocation of the headphones were essential in clarifying the incident.
