Continuing with the sanitation operations, the technical team of the Pereira Health Secretariat visited six establishments dedicated to the sale of meat, located in the Impala wholesale plaza, one of them was completely closed due to non-compliance with the standard.

The operation that was carried out since the early hours of last Saturday was accompanied by the National Carabineros Police, who were in charge of verifying guides for the products to be marketed, the slaughter plant where they came from and safety for human consumption.

“When it becomes evident that the location conditions are inadequate, that the ceiling and walls have cracks, some equipment and utensils do not have sanitary conditions to handle food, the presence of pests, deficient cleaning and disinfection processes, we are obliged to put temporary total closure measure, which means immediately suspending the marketing of said meat,” explained Andrea Jara, coordinator of the municipality’s Environmental Area.

Likewise, the official pointed out that these conditions represent a high risk for public health and called for meat retailers to assume the commitment to guarantee the origin of the products and in this way be responsible to citizens and avoid the confiscation and economic losses.
