Santa Marta
Since the early hours, a civic strike has been taking place for peace and the mobilization of the communities of the Troncal del Caribe, who demand that Gustavo Petro’s government expedite the dialogue table with the organization Conquering Self-Defense Forces of the Sierra.
During the day convened by the Association of Presidents and Community Leaders of the Troncal del Caribe (Asocomunales), the Indigenous Communities of Arhuacos, Koguis, Wiwas, peasant communities, Afro-descendants and merchants, Some people were identified with t-shirts demanding freedom of expression. CLOSURE OF PREMISES
In Santa Marta, the authorities confirmed that businesses are operating normally. However, in neighborhoods like November 11, Bonda, Guachaca and Yucal In Santa Marta and the towns of Palmor, San Javier, Varela and Riofrío, commercial premises are closed.
PMU
Within the framework of the Unified Command Post (PMU) convened by the District Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta, a meeting is being held with the participation of directors from various entities, including the Attorney General’s Office, the Ombudsman’s Office, the Security Secretariat, the Government Secretariat, the High Council for the Sierra Nevada and the Rural Zone, the Undersecretary of Rural Development and an OAS delegate in the peace process; this in order to guarantee that the demonstrations take place in complete tranquility.
So far, the authorities have not reported any disturbance of public order in the area where the event takes place, except for the closure of the Santa Marta – La Guajira road. This will be congested by protesters and logistics personnel who will only allow the passage of ambulances and other vehicles that require priority passage.
