May inflation in La Rioja reached 4.2%. In this way, it was significantly below the figure it had recorded last April (9.1%).

While in the period between May 2023 and the same month of 2024, the accumulated inflation in the region that makes up the province of La Rioja was 268.8%.

One piece of information to pay special attention to due to its social and economic impact is what is happening with the food sector, which closed with an increase of 4.7% in May, below the inflation average and confirming the trend of recent months.

The official data released by the INDEC determined that in the last 12 months the evolution of the price increase in the area that makes up La Rioja was: June 6.6%, July 6.1%, August 13.7%, September 13 .2%, October 7.7%, November 11.8%, December 25.2%, January 21.7%, February 11.7%, March 8.2% and April 9.1%. Plus what was already mentioned from May of this year.

At the national level, the price increase determined a figure of 4.2%, which meant a notable decrease in relation to April when it had stood at 8.8%. While inflation in the last 12 months in the country’s average was 276.4%.

To measure increases in product values, INDEC includes the province of La Rioja within the NOA region. In which Catamarca, Tucumán, Salta, Jujuy and Santiago del Estero are also located.
