Upon seeing the fruit, Llano could not hold back his tears and explained the meaning they have in his life. “My whole heart stirred, here she is like my grandmother, you know? After the touching moment, the jury made up of Jorge Rausch, Adrià Marina, and Nicolás de Zubiría explained to the participants that the purpose of the challenge was to use the fruit located in their station as a filling for the dessert to be prepared.
For the first test, the celebrities had 75 minutes to prepare. Meanwhile, they received instructions from the chefs, pointing out that they had the entire pantry of the program at their disposal.
While time was running out, the participants faced several typical kitchen accidents such as burns, in addition to experiencing pressure due to the short time and lack of experience of the participants, but they managed to overcome the obstacles and presented the dessert to the lectern of the program for the evaluation of chefs.
When presenting the dishes, the jury did not hesitate to highlight the successes and failures of the participants’ preparations. Among the most criticized were the dishes of comedian Franko Bonilla and actor Alejandro Toro, for whom the cake dough and filling were raw. While the actors Paola Rey, Alejandro Estrada and Juan Pablo Llano received praise from the chefs.
When deciding who would be the winner of the first test of the contest, the jurors Jorge Raush and Nicolás de Zubiría highlighted the good performance of the majority of the participants, “We were surprised by the quality and polish of the dishes of most of the competitors,” they noted.
After a brief period of deliberation, Mexican chef Adrià Marina announced that the winner of the ‘mystery box’ challenge was Paola Rey, who won an immunity pin and will not leave the competition in the first week. The advertisements did not stop there, the jury assigned a black apron to Franko Bonilla, Marcela Gallego and María Fernanda Yepes, because in the preparation they were not able to give the characteristic roll shape to the Queen’s Arm.
