Dozens of constructive actions are being carried out in various Public Health institutions, “as a continuation of an investment process – which also includes the adaptation and creation of new premises -, increased significantly since last year, and designed to improve healthcare conditions and labor,” Otmara Paniagua Mercaderes, Investment specialist of the General Directorate of Health in the province, informed Granma.

At the Saturnino Lora hospital, an emblematic healthcare center in the eastern region, highlights include “the capital repair of the guard unit, separation of the emergency and emergency services, the pharmacy, the blood bank and the sterilization center; regardless of what has been done in several of its admission rooms,” said Paniagua Mercaderes.

The Antonio María Béguez César (South) and Juan de la Cruz Martínez Maceira (North) children’s hospitals, both in Hero City, are also the subject of important work. According to the specialist, in Infantil Sur progress is being made in “the remodeling and improvement of the pathological anatomy service, the adaptation of a place for relatives of oncology patients and waterproofing of roofs”; while in the North a miscellaneous room is being repaired.

The construction of a warehouse for the alcohol reserves of the Health system in the province is carried out at the Gustavo Machín psychiatric hospital, a center in which several of its facilities are also being improved.

Some 50 family doctor and nurse offices – not a few located in intricate areas – are being revived, “as part of a plan that also includes polyclinics and maternal and nursing homes in the main municipalities of Tercer Frente and San Luis, as well as smaller actions in the remaining five,” explained the Investment Specialist.
