After knowing the risk of collapse of Euromarina II, Deputy Teao submits a new request for an investigative commission for sinkhole – Radio Festival

“In April we went to the field and confirmed, not only that the collector had defects but also that Serviu was already aware of it. For this reason, I believe it is relevant that a new investigative commission be established for sinkholes where the responsibilities of public organizations in this regard are established and, in addition, that a study be carried out once and for all that determines the state of the entire area of the dunes, a document that I requested months ago without any response”. In this way, Deputy Hotuiti Teao filed a new request for a special investigative commission into sinkholes. All this, after learning of the permanent eviction of residents due to the risk of collapse of the five towers of the Euromarina II project.

The parliamentarian also added that “The risk of collapse and collapse, based on the report sent by Serviu to the Viñamarino municipality and which forces residents to abandon, as of this Wednesday, the Euromarina II building from tower one to five, motivates us even more to request this supervisory body to determine not only the circumstances that led to this collapse, but also similar events that may be in latency in other sectors of the Reñaca dunes area where other buildings could be at risk due to new rains.” .

“In this instance,” the legislator continued, “it would be relevant to summon not only Serviu to explain why they did not act sooner despite having knowledge of the failures in the collector, but also the Ministry of Public Works, to find out why.” “The sinkhole having occurred last year in the Kandinsky building, no measures were taken to review all the collectors in the area.”

“We hope that my peers in the Lower House sign this request for an investigative commission so that the residents of these buildings and all those who live in the dune sector can have answers and some peace of mind”Teao concluded.
