On the brink of the beginning of winter and the rise in respiratory diseases, the Seremi of Government, Health and the Neighborhood Councils have joined together to increase the coverage of the vaccination campaign against influenza and COVID-19 with the aim of caring the health of the population.

Thanks to this work, more than 250 people have already been immunized at the headquarters of the territorial organizations, through special operations developed to prevent target groups from having to make long journeys in search of the vaccine.

The initiative has been applauded by neighborhood leaders, such as Carmen Flores from the Portal del Elqui Neighborhood Council of La Serena, who highlighted the importance of reaching neighborhood associations with these campaigns.

“Give thanks because more than 70 people were vaccinated, including caregivers of older adults and people with underlying diseases. People who did not have the fifth dose of COVID also finished getting vaccinated. It was a very nice activity. Always give thanks for being concerned about the people who cannot reach their sectors, which in this case are the offices, whether due to injury, whether due to time, work and everything.”, expressed Carmen Flores from La Serena. .

In this regard, the Seremi of Government, Paulina Mora, explained that this activity arises from the concern of local leaders to cover the groups that are vulnerable to respiratory diseases and the interest of the authority to improve the coverage rates of the winter campaign.

“We have made progress in the vaccination process, but to reinforce it we wanted to support this request that our neighborhood leaders made to us to carry the immunization operations to the social headquarters. They are the first to see the needs of their communities and for us, as a government, it is important to be where they need us. We will continue to support these actions that only seek the well-being and care of our communities,” said Regional Spokesperson Paulina Mora.

According to the information provided by the health authority, the groups that must be vaccinated against Influenza and COVID-19 are: Health personnel, people 60 years of age or older, preschool and school education personnel up to 8th grade, pregnant women, immunocompromised people and patients. chronic. The rest of the more specific groups can be found at minsal.cl and on the social networks of the Ministry of Health.

From the Paula Jaraquemada Neighborhood Council of El Bosque de San Carlos, Coquimbo, Ana María Véliz, thanked the operation and pointed out that they expect new opportunities to advance in the coverage of other groups.

“This benefits us enormously, since one, we decongest everything that is the trip to the CESFAM, and the other is that it is more comfortable for the neighbors that everything that is a health operation comes closer to the community, and thus the community as well. She feels closer to everything that has to do with health issues. Our community benefits too much from vaccination. I wish they could have influenza vaccination for the entire population, not just those at risk, since they are always asking questions,” explained the Buenos Aires leader.

This June 21, two operations will take place in the Coquimbo commune. The first of them will be held, from 10:30 to 1:30 p.m., at the Peñuelas Community Center, located at Acapulco 3770, and during the afternoon, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the health team will be at the Las Lomas de San Ramón Neighborhood Council, located at Pasaje Francisco Torrejón 138.
