With the purpose of increasing immunization levels and protecting girls and boys from respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a team from the Arica and Parinacota Health Service (SSAP) has carried out a door-to-door visit in various parts of the city.

The initiative seeks to facilitate access to the monoclonal drug Nirsevimab for parents of babies born since October 2023, to prevent respiratory complications this winter.

“We coordinate with the regional hospital and the municipal health directorate to rescue those born since October of last year and, thus, immunize them against the syncytial virus. We schedule routes for the health team to travel to each Cesfam jurisdiction in the city, with the aim of going house to house informing what this medicine consists of and asking if they voluntarily want to inoculate their sons or daughters,” said the director. of SSAP Patricia Sanhueza Zenobio.

In addition, the health authority called on the community to receive health officials to prevent girls and boys from facing a serious illness or risk of death.

The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) drug Nirsevimab is an effective and safe monoclonal antibody against RSV, administered in a single dose preventively. This virus is the main cause of hospitalizations and sequelae due to respiratory viruses in children under one year of age.
