Luchi González became the fourth fired coach this season in MLSafter the San José Earthquakes will announce their departure.

The Northern California team is the worst in the entire MLS, with barely 11 points in 19 games, also having the worst defense in the league, which has allowed 51 goals against, including 17 in the last four games.

The assistent Ian Russell He will be the interim coach of the Earthquakes. His first match will be Classic against the Galaxy on Saturday.

González was living his second stage as a coach in the MLS. He directed the FC Dallas from 2019 to 2021being fired after not entering the Playoffs in his last season, after which he was the Gregg Berhalter’s assistant on the United States senior national team. He arrived in San José for the 2023 season and in his first year he put the team in the wild card round, although they lost to Sporting Kansas City.

González’s balance as coach of San José was 14 wins, 16 draws and 29 losses.

San José joins nashville (Gary Smith) atlanta (Gonzalo Pineda) and dallas (Nico Estevez) like the clubs that have changed coaches this season in the MLS.
