Havana.- rallies in France, the Netherlands and Spain will mark the route that the Cuban athletic fleet will travel during the month of July as part of the summer preparation tour towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Cuban federation of Deporte Rey reported this Wednesday that the triple jumper Cristian Nápoles, the sprinter Yunisleidys García (100 m) and the young Daily Cooper (800 m) must participate in the Sotteville-lès-Rouen 2024 International Athletics Meeting, which will take place will celebrate the 4th of July on French soil.

Cooper’s new foray will be followed with great attention after his recent demonstration in the Spanish city of Guadalajara, where in addition to certifying his debut under the five rings, he took his personal best to 1:58.61 minutes.

The girl from Camagüey, just 22 years old, has “exploited” all her potential during the current campaign and will have the opportunity to demonstrate in Paris that she is ready to take on the greatest challenges.

By the way, her specialty is “word of mouth” after the American Athing Mu, Tokyo 2020 champion, missed the opportunity to defend her reign. The tall runner suffered a spectacular fall during the Olympic selection trials in her country, which prevented her from being included among those classified.

Returning to the critical route of the Cubans, the next presentation was scheduled for July 7 at the FBK Games Hengelo, one of the best-known events on the annual calendar based in the Netherlands. Cristian will have his third competition of the season there and high jumper Luis Enrique Zayas will make his debut.

For the latter, the possibility of calibrating his current physical form a few weeks after jumping into the fight under the five rings will be very important, taking into account that he has not competed since the close of the winter segment.

The journey of the Antilleans through European competitions will continue on the 9th of the same month in the Spanish city of Malaga, where Roxana Gómez (400 meters), Silinda Morales (discus), Yunisleidys (100) and Alejandro Parada (long jump) will take part. ).

Rose Mary Almanza, with an Olympic ticket safely secured, will run the 800 meters in the 27th edition of the Moore Guldensporenmeeting, in the Belgian city of Kortrijk, to be held on July 13.

So far Cuba has 10 places for the Paris 2024 athletics, but that number will increase after the stipulated period for achieving minimum marks or adding the points that guarantee access through ranking closes on June 30.

Several Cubans are currently in the qualifying zone, but their chances will have to be defined in early July, following official confirmations from World Athletics.
