In order for citizen observers to have greater skills necessary to exercise effective social control, the Comptroller General of Cali launched the training program in ‘Technological tools for social control’.

A total of 50 observers from the city will be able to participate in this learning space, which will include the participation of professionals from the Santiago de Cali University.

“Through these activities, we reinforce our institution’s commitment to transparency and strengthening the social control. Training our citizen observers is crucial to guarantee effective surveillance and encourage citizen participation in public management,” highlighted Pedro Antonio Ordóñez, comptroller general of Cali.

How will the course be developed?

Spokespersons from the Comptroller’s Office detail that the training will be carried out in person and will have a total duration of 12 academic hours, which will be distributed in three classes of four hours each and It will be held on July 3, 10 and 17.

“It will cover fundamental topics such as the use of computer and Internet tools for social control, and navigation on state websites,” the control entity states.

They add that participating observers will be able to learn “from basic notions of the Word word processor to the use of the SIPAC tool of the General Comptroller’s Office of Santiago de Cali, which will allow observers to make complaints and queries effectively, becoming key actors in participatory fiscal control and in the surveillance of Cali’s public resources.”
