Expectation, illusion and great desire at the doors of the Palacio de los Deportes before the Bob Dylan concert. Minutes before seven-thirty, the opening time of the doors, there was already a lot of excitement in the surroundings and, later, in the queue. People of all ages were arriving with the emotion typical of those who are about to see a great person.
The first to arrive were three teenagers carrying a banner that read “I love Bob Dylan.” Despite their youth, they are fans of the American singer since all of them have grown up with Bob Dylan thanks to their parents. Also one of the first to arrive was a group from Huesca, where the concert was suspended last week due to rain.
But if we talk about dedicated fans, the trio made up of a Mexican, an English and a French woman take the cake. The three of them have met in Logroño, but they share the same passion for the American singer-songwriter who they have followed half the world. Yesterday they entered the compound together.
The Mexican has come expressly from Tijuana, after requesting a work permit, for the concerts in San Sebastian -she has been to both at the Kursaal- and tonight’s in Logroño. The Frenchwoman, for her part, Laurette Maillet, is a 72-year-old painter who has more than 500 Dylan concerts behind her and almost the same number of paintings dedicated to Dylan. She has been following him since 1963, she told us at the gates of the Palacio de Deportes.
While people queued up, the musician was playing the piano. He recently arrived, at around six in the evening he “camouflaged” in a green jumpsuit, wrapped in a hood. He has discreetly left the car that has brought him to the recent trying not to see his face. It has been a group of teenagers who have discovered him and have unsuccessfully required a signature.
The concert
Bob Dylan’s Logroño concert belongs to the ‘Rough and rowdy ways’ tour, corresponding to his latest album (2020), which includes twelve concerts in Spain and ends on Saturday in Barcelona.
At 82 years old, Robert Allen Zimmerman (Duluth, Minnesota, 1941) has had a longer musical career, one of the most influential in international music. His folk, electric blues and rock songs have been generational anthems. ‘Like a rolling stone’ is perhaps his best known song.
What has attracted attention is the ban on mobile phones with a system that pockets them and disables them during the concert and with the threat of expulsion in case of non-compliance.
There are many who are buying tickets at the box office, so the organization expects a full house at the Palace.
