The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro attended today the funeral services of Major General Leonardo Andollorecently deceased.

On Monday, Raúl Castro and Brigadier General Amado Ricardo Guerra, executive secretary of the Council of Ministers, stood guard of honor before the ashes of Andollo Valdés, who died on May 3 at the age of 78, reported on the social network Presidency of Cuba.

“Very early, the leader of the Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro, paid tribute to Division General (R) Leonardo Andollo Valdés, who died on May 3. Next to him, Brigadier General Amado Ricardo, secretary of the executive committee of the Council of Ministers. Raúl offered his condolences to the family of the prominent Cuban soldier.

Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, and Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of Cuba, also attended to pay tribute in the Pantheon of Veterans of the Necropolis of Colón.

Andollo Valdés joined the FAR through the National Revolutionary Militias and, in July 1961, he joined the engineering specialty of the General Staff.

At the institution he served as Head of the Combat Preparation and Operations Section, of the Engineering Directorate; Chief of the General Staff of the Engineering Headquarters; Chief of the Western Army Engineering Section; Second Chief and Head of the Engineering Directorate and Second Chief of the General Staff and Head of the Operations Directorate.
