The president of the Association of Firefighters Volunteers from Villa Pehuenia and Moquehue, Lorenzo Félix Lorente, published a statement to announce, the situation faced by several barracks in the province of Neuquén, which are not included in the national provision that exempts the units from paying bills for gas service. According to the letter, the measure benefits buildings connected to the natural gas network, excluding those that use the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) network.

Precisely these barracks are located in the coldest area of the province, says the head of the Association of firefightersand details the Aluminé headquarters; Caviahue and Copahue; Loncopué; The sheep; El Huecú and barracks, in addition to Villa Pehuenia and Moquehue, although he did not rule out that there are more firefighting units that are in the same situation in the interior of the province.

In the note, which he posted on social networks and which began with the phrase: “On alert and prepared to go to the last consequences,” Félix Lorente referred to Resolution No. 252/2024, of the National Government, published in the official bulletin on Wednesday, June 5, which implements “the benefit of free gas service, provided by National Law 27,629 on Strengthening the National System of Firefighters Volunteers”.

The national standard, establishes that the benefit must be implemented in the billing of public services of natural gas provided by the network, electric energy, drinking water, fixed and mobile telephony in all its modalities, and information and communications technologies that are under national jurisdiction. Although he highlighted that the measure is of great importance for the barracks, he regretted that it is only applicable to natural gas service through the network.

Lorente asked himself: “What is the fault of our troops, who live in one of the coldest areas of the province, for receiving LPG through the network and not natural gas?” Furthermore, he questioned that when they prepared the resolution, “they did not realize this,” he said. The head of the Association revealed that the National Council and the executive board of the Neuquén federation “are seeking to resolve the situation before the authorities of ENARGAS and IDENESA.” and they appealed to the common sense of those who have responsibility to reverse this situation, to resolve it urgently.
