Representative Silvina Vaccarezza presented two initiatives in the provincial Legislature seeking to make the use of electric energy in the province’s public buildings and gas in Buenos Aires schools more efficient.

One of the bills promoted creates the “Electric Savings Regime” in public buildings in the Province of Buenos Aires, seeking to make energy use more efficient and take care of provincial resources.

The concept of “energy efficiency” refers to the proper management of energy use. This implies using only what is necessary to carry out a process and discontinuing its use once it has finished. In this way, in addition to taking care of the environment, significant economic savings are achieved.

According to the articles, the proposed “Electric Savings Regime” will set specific goals for the progressive reduction of energy consumption three, five and ten years from its regulation.

“This regime is intended to be a trigger so that the population’s good practices are replicated in the 135 municipalities of the province, achieving concrete results in the short term,” Vaccarezza highlighted.

Meanwhile, another of the initiatives urges the province to implement a plan for the rational and efficient use of energy for all public schools in the province, as well as asking it to carry out advertising campaigns aimed at the education of teachers and students about the rational use and savings of electric and gas energy.

The foundations of the project warn, for example, that in some educational establishments, on weekends and at the end of school hours, the stoves are not turned off, which causes unnecessary expense and also contributes to the deterioration of the stoves.

“Faced with the current economic context that both the Province of Buenos Aires and our country are going through, especially with regard to electricity and gas rates, concrete measures must be taken to help optimize provincial resources,” Vaccarezza said in this regard.
