The National Assembly of the PNV and the PSE-EE militancy They approved this Monday the agreement to the next Basque coalition government. The highest body of the PNV between Congresses has unanimously endorsed the agreement with the Basque socialists, whose membership has also approved the reissue of the government coalition.

96.18 percent of the Basque socialist militants who participated in the vote (3,375 members) have supported the agreement with the PNV, while 2.91% (102) and 0.91% have spoken out against it. There have been blank votes (32). They have participated in the vote, telematically between last Wednesday and Friday and in person at the ballot box this Monday, 72.04% of the 4,871 affiliates that made up the censusas reported by the party.

Upon arrival at the meeting of the National Assembly, held at the PNV headquarters in Bilbao, the candidate for lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, has stated that “everything is going well” in the negotiations with the PSE-EE, although “all the issues” with the socialists have not yet been closed. He has assured that he faces the preparations for the investiture debate next Thursday in the Basque Parliament “with great enthusiasm and working.”

“I can’t say much because not all the issues with the PSE are closed, but we are going to do it. “Everything is going well, and as soon as we close the agreement it will be time to talk about other things.”Pradales pointed out. For his part, the general secretary of the PSE-EE, Eneko Andueza, who cast his vote this Monday at the headquarters of the Socialist Group of Eibar (Gipuzkoa), has declared that the new Basque Government is still “undefined” and that there are “fringes” to be specified. Regarding the agreement with the PNV, he said that it “perfectly represents the philosophy, idiosyncrasy and fundamental pillars” with which the Basque socialists ran for the elections.

The pre-agreement signed on June 10, 11 pages long and titled ‘Bases for the Agreement to advance well-being, progress, self-government and the transformation of a global Euskadi’, includes global principles and objectives of the next Basque Government. In the chapter of self-government, both parties commit to completing the current Statute of Gernika and to the elaboration of some “bases for developing a new statutory agreement”, which will be based on the agreement between the PNV and the PSOE for the investiture of Pedro Sánchez. This text will be the result of “negotiation, agreement and the maximum political consensus in the Basque Parliament, within the scope of its competence and current legislation.”

PNV and PSE-EE will seek an agreement “as wide as possibleboth within the Basque institutions and in the Cortes Generales, to be subsequently ratified by the Basque people“. The Coexistence section includes the “delegitimization of violence; comprehensive recognition of all victims of rights violations; construction of an inclusive, critical and ethical memory; and promotion of ethical and democratic principles and values”.

In social policies, PNV and PSE-EE advocate achieving a “country pact for care”since the rest are generic objectives such as Basque public health being of “highest quality and a benchmark in Europe”, increasing housing for young people or developing the education law approved last year.

In economics, the two partners refer to reindustrialization, quality employment, social dialogue, consolidating Euskadi “as a pole of innovation” or the protection of the first sector. The investiture session of the new Lehendakari will be held on Thursday, June 20, and with this pact Pradales will be elected with an absolute majority in the first vote. The oath of office will be on Saturday, June 22 at the Gernika Board House (Bizkaia).
