(CNN Spanish) — The CNN debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, taking place in Atlanta this Thursday, June 27, marks the first in-person confrontation of the 2024 campaign between the two candidates. Both candidates accepted the network’s invitation and agreed to accept the rules and format of the debate, as outlined in letters sent to the campaigns by the network in May.
Some aspects of the debate — including the absence of a studio audience — will be different from previous debates. But, as in the past, moderators “will use every tool at their disposal to enforce time and ensure a civil discussion,” according to CNN.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has earned at least 15% in three qualifying polls so far and is currently on the ballot in six states, making him currently eligible for just 89 votes in the Electoral College.
Biden and Trump also agreed to participate in another debate organized by ABC on September 10.

Both candidates agreed to appear on a uniform podium, and their positions on the podium will be determined by tossing a coin.
