After days of intense flooding in Florida, that state and many others prepare for an intense heat wavewhile the northwest United States will experience unseasonable cold and possible late snowfall in the Rocky Mountains early next week.

The chaotic weather map includes the possibility of strong storms to develop between the warm and cold fronts. According to forecasters, the colliding fronts could cause flash flooding between eastern Nebraska and northern Wisconsin on Saturday night, as well as strong storms in parts of eastern Montana into North and South Dakota.

Meanwhile, a blast of tropical moisture will hit the central Gulf Coast over the next two days, with heavy rain expected to begin Monday morning, according to the U.S. National Weather Service.

Forecasters said the threat of heavy rain in Florida continues to dissipate, but some storms could cause local flooding given the already saturated soil. Some areas between Miami and Fort Lauderdale were underwater in recent days as persistent storms dumped up to 20 inches (50 centimeters) of water on southern parts of the state.

The damaging unnamed storm system coincided with the early June start of the hurricane season, which this year is expected to be one of the most active in recent years, amid concerns that climate change is increasing. the intensity of the storms.

And in the west Texas city of El Paso, Saturday’s high temperatures will approach 40.6 degrees Celsius (105 degrees Fahrenheit) and the US National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for the region until Monday morning. The city has opened five cooling centers that will operate daily until further notice.

Temperatures in the Northwest and New England will likely reach highs in the mid- to late 30s Celsius (90s Fahrenheit) next week.
