The work “Metamorphosis”, inspired by the book by Franz Kafka, returns to the stage for a new season. This free version directed by Francisco Cabrera will be presented from Friday, July 14 at the Ricardo Palma Cultural Center in Miraflores. Tickets are available through Joinnus.
After the success of its first season, the play returns to the stage to tell the story of Gregorio Samsa’s transformation into a monstrous insect and, in turn, the family drama that is unleashed as a result of this event.
In this story you will see an allegory of man’s confrontation with a world that oppresses him and tries to erase him. The topics to be discussed are loneliness, isolation, guilt and frustration, individuality, family roles and abuse.
“When I think about what hell would be like – if there is one – I imagine that it is similar to where we are now, not all of us see it because it depends on several factors, but a generalization could take us to the most abandoned streets of any city where the Forms and farces disappear and the rawness of the human being is seen. There we can see the misery and abandonment without masks,” said director Francisco Cabrera.
Metamorfosis belongs to the expressionist and surrealist genre where symbolism and mysticism join a vulgar and disturbing reality. The cast includes Sebastián Stimman, Vanessa Robbiano, Daniella Stornaiuolo, Edgard Arocena and to inject a new acting dose, Sergio Paris enters, who will take the role played by Diego Lombardi in the previous season.
This production was the winner of four 2023 Oficio Critico Awards in the Drama category: Best Play, Best Director (Francisco Cabrera), Best Lead Actor (Sebastián Stimman) and Best Supporting Actress (Vanessa Robbiano).
