The history of the Fuego coupe in Argentina
The Renault Fuego coupe was a development based on the Renault 18 and arrived in the country first as an import. Then, in 1982, local production began in Santa Isabel. In its first stage it had a 2.0 four-cylinder engine with 99 HP, which it naturally inherited from the 18.

A curious fact is that while its production in Europe ended in 1985 (there, diesel engine and even turbocharged versions were offered), the Fuego continued its career in the national market and during the following years it presented several new features and improvements that encouraged a little its range.

The Renault Fuego coupe has some details, but it is practically unrun.
In 1988, the GTX version went on sale equipped with a 2.2 engine that reached 116 HP and was combined with a five-speed manual gearbox. At the end of that year, the GTA version appeared on the scene, which adopted a small aesthetic redesign that gave the coupe a more modern look.
This redesign included a clean cut for the nose and tail, the incorporation of body-colored side moldings, added to the presence of new alloy wheels and new mirrors and rear lights. The changes worked well and allowed him to face the last years of commercial life in our country.
