Merchants closed the road to demand a restructuring of the design of the road project.
Merchants from Surabastos blocked route 45 in the trapichito sector, a road that connects Neiva with the municipalities of southern Huila, because they disagree with the design of the 4G road Neiva – Mocoa – Santana, a dual carriageway project in progress.
They only allow ambulances to pass through. However, with the intervention of the Ombudsman and Ombudsman, they established the vehicular passage every hour for a few minutes.
According to the citizens, in order to leave the complex they will have to travel 3 kilometers to the south, and then enter Neiva.
“We are protesting because with the double carriageway that is going to be built, Surabastos is practically isolated, because in order to leave Surabastos we have to go south 3 kilometers to make a return to return to the city of Neiva, when we are demanding that they make a roundabout or an elevated bridge to be able to go over it and get back to the city center. “Surabastos will remain as another monument to the flag,” he said. Situation that would affect sales to merchants because they could reduce the flow of buyers due to the delay on the route. For this reason, they request a restructuring of the project.
“We are demanding the restructuring of the route to the south with Surabastos, where they completely block our exit not only to Surabastos, but to the entire Neiva community, from this sector to Neiva. So we see that as something unfeasible due to security, due to the economy, due to the dynamics of the market, due to the competitiveness of our merchants.” explained Germán Peña, Manager of Surabastos.
Given the above, they request a meeting with the mayor of Neiva, delegates from the National Infrastructure Agency ANI, to be able to establish alternative solutions.
Since 2023 they have sent petition rights and letters, but they have not achieved a rapprochement with the entity, which led to the closure of the road. If they do not obtain a solution, they will continue to block access.
