The authorities continue to find anomalies in this type of establishments.

After more than 12 hours of operations in commercial establishmentsthe Mayor’s Office determined the closure of five establishments related to the sale of food due to non-compliance with hygienic-sanitary standards to operate.

“We continue to carry out operations to prevent poisoning, gastrointestinal diseases or others that may affect the health of residents and visitors,” said Liliana Ospina, Municipal Health Secretary.

The measure was applied in two agrotourism farms in El Totumo, where pests, fungi and problems in the documentation of the establishments were found. In addition, In La Samaria, 21 restaurants were inspected, detecting pests and documentary deficiencies in three locations, which led to the immediate closure of their activities.

“Two stores decided to close voluntarily, while one was closed by order of the health authority, ordering its indefinite closure,” the official explained.

The sanctioned establishments must comply with the measures imposed by the Mayor’s Office to protect public health.

It is important to remember that other food establishments have recently been sanctioned for similar situations.. The last reported incident occurred on Saturday, June 8, at a Chinese restaurant, where live cockroaches and cockroach droppings were found.

To avoid inconveniences and possible permanent closures, it is essential to follow these recommendations:

  • Maintain the hygiene of the premises: Regularly clean and disinfect all areas, especially food preparation areas, tables, utensils and bathrooms.
  • Pest control: Implement effective measures to prevent and control pests such as cockroaches, mice and flies. Hire professional fumigation services if necessary.
  • Proper Food Storage: Keep food stored at appropriate temperatures and in safe conditions to avoid contamination and the growth of bacteria.
  • Safe Food Handling: Train staff in safe food handling practices, including frequent handwashing and proper use of gloves and utensils.
  • Normative compliance: Ensure you comply with all local health and food hygiene regulations. Conduct periodic internal inspections to identify areas for improvement.
