The Cerritos – Pereira road, in the Las Cascadas sector, will be closed for six months

The National Road Institute, Invías, through the Vías del Samán program, informed the users of the Cerritos – Pereira corridor that the road closure has begun in the Las Cascadas sector (km 5), which will last for a period of six months, as part of the construction works of the Galicia intersection.

In order not to interrupt traffic on the road, a temporary detour will be enabled, parallel to the dual carriageway. This detour will have two lanes and will have a total width of 7 meters, in addition to having the support of road controllers, to guarantee vehicular flow. It is important to highlight that traffic on the road that connects Cartago with Pereira will maintain its normal flow.

Likewise, we inform the community that the current return to Galicia will also be closed. Drivers must use the turnaround located in front of the Sonesta hotel to make the corresponding turn.

These closures are due to the construction works of the Galicia intersection, a project prioritized by the region in which more than $34.2 billion are invested and which includes the construction of roundabouts and an overpass over the national highway.

With this work, Vías del Samán will significantly improve the traffic conditions for users of the Cerritos – Pereira corridor, increasing road safety indices and reducing travel times.
