The mental health program of the Casanare Health Secretariat began an emotional intelligence and mental health course aimed at leaders of the religious community with the aim of training them and providing them with tools for crisis intervention, activation of care routes, the identification of risk factors and, above all, carrying out active listening with the community in general.
In the current context, where mental health has become a priority, the initiative seeks to strengthen the response capacity of religious leaders, who play a fundamental role in the social fabric of Casanare.
By providing them with the necessary skills, it is hoped that they will be able to offer more effective and timely support to their communities, especially in times of crisis.
The course includes specialized modules in emotional intelligence, crisis intervention techniques, and strategies for identifying risk factors in mental health. Additionally, the importance of active listening is emphasized, a crucial skill for understanding and appropriately responding to community needs.
Activating care pathways is another key component of the course, ensuring faith leaders know how and when to refer people to appropriate mental health services. This not only improves the immediate response, but also contributes to a more comprehensive and sustained management of mental health problems in the region.
The importance of a broad, well-trained support network is a significant step towards more inclusive and accessible mental health care for all. With this initiative, it is expected not only to improve crisis intervention and emotional support, but also to strengthen the link between the community and health services, promoting a healthier and more resilient environment in Casanare.
