The District Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta, through the Ministry of Health, supported the characterization sessions for people deprived of liberty, organized by the Ombudsman’s Office. These activities were carried out on June 18 and 19 at the Protection Transfer Centers (CTP) 1 and 2 of the city.

The District Health Secretariat, led by Jorge Lastra Cantillo, together with the team from the Health Insurance Services Directorate, organized everything necessary to care for this vulnerable population, especially prone to respiratory disease infections.

The objective of the characterization day was to normalize the inclusion of these people in the health system and thus provide appropriate care according to their physical condition. During these days, the incarcerated population was vaccinated against various viruses and bacteria, including influenza.

Of the people served, a significant percentage was already affiliated with the health system. Those who were not affiliated were told the route to follow and were linked to the system, meeting the necessary requirements.

The district administration maintains its total commitment to guarantee that all institutional offerings are at the service of the Samarians, regardless of their condition.

Press release.
