The villages of Llanitos, Ríoclaro, Nueva Primavera and Gallinazo, in Villamaría, modified their health posts. They became Priority Health Care Centers (CAPS). The authorities intend, among other things, to facilitate access to services in the area for residents of rural areas.
This implementation or change has been expected for two years, after a positive popular action that called for the improvement of the health system in the countryside. The idea of the Mayor’s Office is to enable, in the remainder of this four-year period, four more CAPS in the Papayal, Miraflores, Los Cuervos and Valles villages.
Jonier Alejandro Ramírez Zuluaga, mayor of Villamaría, is negotiating with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection to obtain resources that will allow him to turn this project and others in the sector into a reality.
Of attention
The professionals who make up the basic health teams, which the Ministry recently approved, will serve in these positions. In the town there will be five, in the rest of the department there will be 161 (See Allocation box).
These teams will be made up of doctors, psychologists, dentists, nurses, nursing assistants, social workers and other professionals, according to the needs noted in previous visits.
Alejandra Milena Gallego, Local Health Director, mentioned that the infrastructure of the Papayal and Miraflores CAPS are in poor condition. She highlighted that in Los Cuervos there is not even a building, that they must build it there.
Coordinating
At the head of the CAPS in the Gallinazo village is the nursing assistant Ana Lucía Muñoz. She told LA PATRIA that the place became a integral spacebecause in addition to attending to matters related to health programs, talks and training are given there.
The professional noted that the difference between a post and a CAPS is that the second provides comprehensive care and serves as a community meeting point. The first only worked for health issues.
Assignment
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection allocated resources of $513 billion for the formation of basic health teams in the country. Caldas will have them in the 27 municipalities.
This was approved in the department: Neira (5), Chinchiná (7), Villamaría (5), Marulanda (2), La Dorada (10), Manizales (10), Anserma (8), Belalcázar (3), Norcasia (2), Palestine (2), Pennsylvania (5), Riosucio (10), Risaralda (3), Samaná (6), Aguadas (10), Aranzazu (6), Philadelphia (6), La Merced (4), Manzanares (8), Marmato (6), Marquetalia (8), Pácora (8), Salamina (8), San José (4), Supía (12), Victoria (4) and Viterbo (4).
Keep in mind
The Priority Health Care Center (CAPS) of Gallinazo will have to do with the De Cero a Siempre and Adulto Mayor programs. They plan aerobics sessions. About 50 people are treated there per month, with injections, vaccinations, blood pressure measurements, among others.
Do not forget
The CAPS of the Llanitos, Río Claro, Nueva Primavera and Gallinazo villages will operate with a nursing assistant. The San Antonio Hospital brought its extramural care unit with doctors, dentists, nurses and psychologists to the four towns every 15 days.
