On this occasion, the event pays tribute to Colombian jazz, recognizing artists who have fused the language of jazz with the country’s traditional rhythms.

Since 2011, the San Pedro and San Pablo bridge dresses Villa de Leyva with jazz. The municipality becomes the perfect setting to fuse Latin American musical genres with the language of jazz, generating spaces that allow attendees to enjoy the different sounds of this musical genre, while appreciating the architecture and heritage wealth of Villa de Leyva.

On this occasion the event pays tribute to Colombian jazz, recognizing the artists who have fused the language of jazz with the traditional rhythms of the country, which will be carried out through the interpretation of works by composers from our country, which have been compiled through Real Book Colombia by the groups invited to the Festival.

From June 26 to 30, multiple concerts and activities focused on the enjoyment of jazz will take place in Villa de Leyva.

The festival will begin with academic activities that will take place on June 26 and 27, with the holding of the Bootcamp: ‘From jazz to the business of jazz’.

This is an intensive training program that will be carried out through the alliance between the Villa Jazz Festival Corporation and the School of Music, Media Technology, Berklee Global (EMMAT), where attendees will be able to strengthen their skills in musical performance and industry tools musical.

At the end of this meeting there will be a show case by the VillaJazz Ensemble, a training project of the Festival by the saxophonist and jazz doctor Pablo Beltrán. This event will take place at the Selina Hotel.

On Friday, June 28, the festival’s launch concert will be held, which will be performed by the group Street Sound Group, a Colombian project that presents a Brass Band format and is characterized by fusing elements of rock, pop, funk and music. electronic with jazz.

On June 29 and 30, the main stage will be the Plaza de Villa de Leyva, where the groups selected through the tenth call for musical groups will be performing: Guaita, Sur Wave, Viajeros Música y Camino, Mikaël Hyla Cuarteto, Mística , Geographies and Camilo Ibarra.

In addition, the Mexican group Sticky Beast led by Germán Gonzales and Roberto Flores, and the guitarist Máté Palásti with the support of the Hungarian Embassy, ​​will be performing in the international quota. There will also be the participation of the Big Band Time Machine from the Sergio Arboleda University.

“It is an immense joy to be able to have high-quality artists from the countries of Mexico and Hungary. These alliances have allowed the Festival to strengthen its exercise of cultural diplomacy, generating intercultural dialogue and reaching new audiences,” said Arian Cuervo, producer general.

This event has the support of the Colombian Ministry of Culture, through the national cultural coordination program; the Government of Boyacá, through the Ministry of Culture and Heritage; the Mayor’s Office of Villa de Leyva, the Hungarian Embassy in Colombia; the Cultural Center of the Bank of the Republic, Tunja headquarters; the School of Music, Media, Technology, Berklee Global (EMMAT); the Villa del Cine Festival, as well as the support of tourism entrepreneurs in Villa de Leyva, such as the Selina and Verona hotels and the Kioscos de los Caciques, Los Sauces and La Terraza restaurants and the Mito Villa de Leyva cultural center.
