The guitarist of Metallica, Kirk Hammetthas qualified Judas Priest as “the architects of what we now know as heavy metal”.
The ax of the San Francisco formation spoke about this in a question and answer session with fans in Munich, Germany, on May 25, in which he was also accompanied by Robert Trujillo and the band’s official photographer, Ross Halfin, who will also be in Madrid when the band comes to visit us.

“Your music means a lot to us. And the way Glenn Tipton and KK Downing played guitars – I mean, they are architects of what we now know as heavy metal, to put it bluntly.. And James and I love Priest“.
Hammett also talked about what it was like to be able to enjoy other bands: “A lot of times we don’t get the chance to see the bands when we play a big festival or something, because we’re always backstage doing press or getting ready for the concert or rehearsing or whatever.”
“When we performed at Power Trip, we arrived early, a few days early, so we could see the other groups. And it was great: the anticipation of seeing the headliners Iron Maiden, Priest, AC/DC and Guns ‘N’ Roses, and really see them. It was a wonderful moment“.
