Its premise of building adorable dioramas has caught the attention of a good handful of users

Generally, it is the big productions that get all the attention in the video game sector. Projects that, under the protection of gigantic companies, can afford to pay large amounts of money to come out at the event of the moment, or that consist of a huge team that guarantees spectacular visuals and gameplay. However, the public also seeks a break, a brief moment of disconnection and, why not, video games that offer absolutely no challenge. And this is the reason why Tiny Glade this so high on Steam wishlist.

Does the term ‘cozy‘? It’s a way of referring to games like stardew valley, Animal Crossing either Unpacking that have become popular among video game fans for offering a peaceful experience that invites you to go at your own pace. Tiny Glade is one of those titles that can be perfectly integrated into the cozy subgenre, as it tries to build beautiful dioramas and small miniatures in a forest inhabited by adorable sheep. However, the most striking thing about this title developed by the Pounce Light studio is that, at the time of writing these lines, it is in position number 13 on the list of most wanted games on Steam. This means that the community is more interested in building fairy-tale houses and castles in Tiny Glade than starting the adventures of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Path of Exile 2 either Silent Hill 2: Remake. It is only two places below Shadow of the Erdtreethe DLC of Elden Ring!

Being one of the many games that offer their demo during the Steam Next Fest, Valve’s festival dedicated to test versions of upcoming titles, I couldn’t help but try Tiny Glade and its popular diorama construction proposal . And, although I don’t quite connect with its simple and innocent premise, I understand perfectly why it is so desired on the PC platform. And we are talking about a beautiful game, that does not bother and, most importantly, that is capable of making you smile.

A limited demo, but squeezed to the maximum

Forget about spectacular battles, about winning strategies, about being the best; In short, forget about the challenges. Because Tiny Glade is a simple and relaxing game that does nothing more than offer you a small plot of forest to build dioramas and let your imagination fly. And she is already there. That’s all. You don’t need anything else to make players happy.

Tiny Glade does a lot of the work when it comes to making a diorama, so even the simplest structure ends up being beautiful in its own way.

Because, with its small set of tools (which are used to make dirt roads, install prefabricated houses or add details such as windows and streetlights, among other things), the game gives you thousand possibilities to make rustic neighborhoods, little castles lost in the middle of a haven of peace and imposing towers that could well belong to a solitary magician. But the most curious thing about Tiny Glade is not the beauty of its premise, but how well it adapts to actions of the player; We could say that the game is so well done in this sense that takes care of 70% of the work when making a diorama.

If you connect a dirt road to a house, a wooden door is automatically generated; If you lower the height of a roof to the maximum, you get a beautiful medieval rock terrace; If you put windows on any wall, they are instantly decorated with pots of flowers and clothes that dry in the sun… Instead of offering tools to detail all our creations to the maximum, Tiny Glade takes care of much of the work by making Even the simplest structure is beautiful in its own way.

It should be noted, however, that the demo is nothing more than a small appetizer (I would say even a simple bite) in view of the launch planned for the third quarter of 2024. The space available to build is very small and insufficient to build medieval cities (at the moment, you can only make more or less simple dioramas), there are customization options that are not available and some tools (such as the possibility of placing ponds and trees) will not arrive until the final version. Still, the community is managing to create incredible structures that leave many of my own creations at the height of the bitumen. And, it seems, all these users are delighted with Tiny Glade’s proposal.

A respite in a haven of peace

Although I didn’t initially understand why Tiny Glade was so high on Steam’s most wanted games list, I finally came to understand it, in part, after building a couple of adorable little houses. Beyond the incredible way it adapts to the player’s actions (I repeat, really, even the simplest creation can look beautiful with the details that are added automatically), it is a good game in which to experiment with any idea that you have. come to mind And so, you let time pass in a beautiful meadow where only sheep live cuquis.

In an industry that mainly prioritizes graphic spectacularity, epic combats and open worlds (better or worse designed) in a very fast and endless succession of releases, added to the FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) that affects many fans of the sector, It’s nice to be able to retreat to a clearing in the middle of the forest to build dioramas. Whether experimenting with specific ideas or letting your imagination run wild, Tiny Glade embellishes all the landscapes created by the player.

Evidently, We are not talking about a game that can be recommended to everyone. If you’re looking for experiences that test your driving skills or that convey a story from beginning to end, Tiny Glade probably isn’t for you. However, its high popularity on Steam makes me think that we are facing a small phenomenon in the world of video games; the perfect example that, among so many incredible adventures that are offered to us in the sector, there is also a desire to disconnect among sheep. We will have to see how this trend evolves with the final launch of the title.
