An elderly woman was rescued from her home after a suspicious car fire caused her property to go up in flames overnight.
Police said a vehicle crashed into a garage at St Helens Park at 12.45am on Monday and was then set alight.
An elderly resident of the home was rescued by neighbors after the blaze caused her house to catch a light. She was not injured.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze, but the property was destroyed.
Police are searching for the person or people who crashed the car into the garage.
In a separate incident, fire crews were called to Airds shortly before 11.30pm on Sunday to extinguish a house fire on Towner Ave.
No one was injured in the fire, but the home was destroyed.

In another incident, a car was dumped in a driveway at Airds about 1am and set alight.
Firefighters were called to the home on Rowley Place where a Mazda 3 was found well alight.
Crews managed to gain the upper hand on the blaze and extinguished it shortly after their arrival.
There were no reports of injuries.
In the most recent incident, firefighters were called to Heyson Way in Claymore just after 1.15am following reports of a car fire.
A Toyota Corolla was found on fire but was quickly put out by firefighters.
Crime scenes have been established at all four locations and investigations are underway.
Police say there’s no evidence at this stage to suggest the fires are related.
