More than a hundred Spanish-speaking and book-loving girls form one of the largest Spanish-language reading clubs in Australia.

The group, which was born with just seven readers, forms an unstoppable community that shares personal experiences and experiences. The young women form a safe and intimate space where reading is the main protagonist.

The club is managed by Karen Andrade. This Colombian, a painter by profession and with years of residence in Australia, has managed to unite girls in Australia, Canada, the United States and Latin America every six weeks. In July they will meet again virtually to share one of the books previously selected by vote.

It is initially a girls’ club for girls, although the organizer is already thinking about including men and couples in the very near future.

The initiative came because Karen did not have a social circle with which to share her passion, books. Thus, this young Colombian woman began to look for reading clubs and, not finding any that adapted to her circumstances, she created a small group. Today there are more than a hundred.

The group has a set time of about six weeks to read a previously selected book in English.
