0km registrations amounted to 0km in May 34,614 units, 5.1% more than in the month of April, when 32,943 had been registered, reported the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (Acara). In the comparison with May 2023, the numbers remain in negative territory: the contrast showed a down 13.8% (40,165 units).

Thus, In the first five months of the year, 152,339 units were patented, 22.1% less than in the same period of 2023in which they had enrolled 195,673 vehicles.

“May’s figures continue to improve and this is due, in large part, to the fact that financing appeared, a few months ago bank rates were above 100% and today they are already a third. This key tool for the sector will continue to expand also for motorcycles and machinery and is what will allow us a massive improvement,” analyzed the president of Acara, Sebastián Beato.

“There are some tax reduction proposals that will also have a strong influence so that the client appears firmly. From the value chain we also have a lot to do and that is what we are working on, the automotive companies, with discounts and promotions to encourage sales, and the dealers with bonuses and added value so that customers return, which makes us predict that the second semester will be even better than the first”, Beato completed.

As has happened in recent months, models from Brazil continue to recover lost ground as the flow of imports normalizes. In the first five months, Vehicles of national origin represented 62% of the total, compared to 29% of those of Brazilian originagainst 64 and 28% in the same period of 2023, respectively.

In terms of models, The distinctive note in May was given by the Toyota Hilux, which took first place of the patent ranking, followed by the Peugeot 208 and the Toyota Yaris. The Fiat Cronos, historic first in the last three years, finished in fourth place. It must be remembered that it was a month with production problems for several terminals due to floods in southern Brazil, which led to plant stoppages that continued up to this moment.

In the cumulative five months, the Cronos continues to lead, with 13,816 registrations, followed by the Peugeot 208 (12,383) and the Toyota Hilux (9,636).

By brand, the first three in sales in May were Toyota (8,324 patented units), Volkswagen (5,085) and Fiat (3,504). All three retain that place on the podium in the accumulated of the first five months.
