Mexico City, June 10 (EFECOM).- The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) registered this Monday an advance of 0.27% in its main indicator, which stood at 53,122.58 units, to open the week with gains after In the previous session, there was a loss of 2.75% and a cumulative weekly decline of 4%.

“The capital market closed the session with mixed results among the main global stock indices,” the director of Economic and Financial Analysis of Banco Base, Gabriela Siller, told EFE.

He said that “gains were seen in US indices, due to optimism on the part of investors about the Fed’s monetary policy decision and May inflation that is published on Wednesday,”

In the United States, he specified, the Dow Jones advanced 0.18%, the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.35%, while the S&P 500 recorded gains of 0.26%.

In Mexico, Siller pointed out, the Price and Quotation Index (IPC), the main indicator of the BMV, “closed with a gain of 0.7%, after having fallen 2.75% in Friday’s session.”

Inside, he said, the gains of: Bimbo (+4.54%), Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (+1.94%), Grupo México (+0.79%), Grupo Carso (+3.68%) stood out. and Femsa (+0.64%).

“Despite the gain, the CPI is 3.73% below the level prior to the elections held on June 2,” Siller explained.

The expert recalled that this afternoon in Mexico City, the president-elect, Claudia Sheimbaum, offers a press conference after a meeting with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

“This conference could affect the performance of the exchange rate for the rest of the week, since the market is waiting for signals about the constitutional reforms and the possibility that President López Obrador wants to continue setting the political course of Mexico in the Sheinbaum government,” he noted.

On the day, the peso appreciated 0.38% against the dollar, trading at 18.29 units per greenback, after trading at 18.36 at the close of the previous day, according to data from the Bank of Mexico.

The IPC closed the session at 53,122.58 units, with a gain of 145.26 points and a positive variation of 0.27% compared to the previous day.

The volume traded in the market reached 255 million securities for an amount of 17,464 million pesos (about 954.8 million dollars).

Of the 587 firms listed on the day, 340 ended with their prices rising, 218 had losses and 29 closed unchanged.

The titles with the greatest upward variation were those of the drug marketer and distributor Genomma Lab Internacional (LAB B), with 5.46%; of the producer and marketer Grupo Bimbo (BIMBO A), with 4.54%, and of the industrial consortium Grupo Carso (GCARSO A1), with 3.68%.

In contrast, the largest downward variations were from the telecommunications services firm Controladora Axtel (CTAXTEL A), with -4.95%; from the industrial conglomerate Alfa (ALFA A), with -4.03%, and from the Hoteles City Express chain (HCITY), with -3.23%.

During the day, three of the four sectors advanced, industrial (0.98%), frequent consumption (0.93%) and materials (0.09%), and one lost, financial (- 0.17%). EFECOM
