This Sunday, Chubut triathlete Moira Miranda will take a new step in her sports career: She will travel to Spain to participate in different international competitions.

That is why before her trip, the managers of Chubut Deportes Mariano Ferro and Darío Figueroa held a meeting with the athlete in Comodoro Rivadavia and confirmed the support from the sports entity for this new stage.

“The idea arose with the objective of progressing and seeking to compete at an international level,” Miranda explained.

Although Moira had a scholarship from the National High Performance Sports Entity (ENARD) for having been South American champion last year, she clarified that “the problem this year was that we do not have national support for any type of travel and, despite “After having the results, they did not confirm the continuation of the scholarship.”

Furthermore, he added that “given this scenario, the decision to stay in Córdoba did not have much justification, since I was not going to compete here in South America. “The idea of going to Europe comes to compete in other races.”

In this situation, Miranda received a response from the provincial and municipal State: “From Chubut Deportes they will accompany me for these 3 months with the cats in accommodation and financial support to live there, while the Ente Comodoro Deportes provided me with the transfer to Spain.”

“As I always say, I am very lucky to live in Chubut, where there is a lot of support for sports compared to other provinces,” he said.

SPORTS GROWTH

Moira grew up in Rada Tilly and represented Chubut in different national competitions. Since 2018 he has lived in the capital of Córdoba, where he maintains his sports career along with his university studies. “I came to live in Córdoba to be able to advance in triathlon. It is one of the best places in the country to train the discipline. Today I am at a point where, to continue improving, I have to go outside.”

“At this first moment, the idea is to go and compete for 3 months in Spain for a club and as an Argentine representative in some races. At the same time, evaluate the possibility of staying longer,” he noted.

YEAR OF NEW CHALLENGES

Although during this summer season Moira focused more on her training prior to the European trip, she participated in two national events where she won a gold medal: In Santa Fe and in Córdoba.

“I also participated in the Iroman 70.3 in San Juan, it was a short season to what I am used to; but with aspirations for the challenges that lie ahead.”

Moira Miranda will travel to Spain this Sunday and will settle for 3 months in the city of Lugo, located in Galicia. “The first competition will be on Sunday, May 5 in the Spanish Qualifier, there I will look for a place to continue with the following races.”
