More than 800 rural producers in the area of influence of Ecopetrol’s operations in Casanare strengthen their technical capabilities through the Comprehensive Agricultural Solutions program, Agrosol.
Since its beginning in 2021, the program has reached 54 villages in the municipalities of Yopal, Aguazul, Tauramena, Paz de Ariporo and Hato Corozal, with an investment of close to $11,000 million.
Agrosol provides technical support on farmers’ farms, through veterinary medicines, agronomic inputs, as well as the development of participatory rural diagnoses that actively involve the community, in the joint identification of solutions to agricultural challenges, and the implementation of these solutions on the farms of peasant families.
“It has been something magnificent, training has been received in everything related to the field, in this case as a livestock beneficiary. I am receiving a heifer with an F1 embryo, something of excellent quality that will improve my livestock,” commented Mario Romero, a farmer from the Carrastol village of the Paz de Ariporo municipality.
In addition, training programs have been implemented through field schools, with the purpose of improving the skills of beneficiaries in the management of their production systems.
During the first phase, more than 5 thousand personalized technical support visits were carried out, 1,160 hours of training were carried out, 6 participatory rural diagnoses and 791 soil analyzes were prepared.
In a second phase, 747 producers, who satisfactorily met the program requirements, agreed to the implementation of agricultural solutions to strengthen their projects.
The productive systems that have been the subject of this accompaniment process include cattle farming, fish farming, pig farming, bee farming, poultry farming and a variety of crops such as coffee, banana, corn, sugar cane, cassava, fruit trees, among others.
“We will continue working to promote sustainable agricultural practices that improve not only the quality of life and food security of the peasant families of Casanare, but also promote the sustainable development of the economy and the agricultural vocation of the region,” said Yamile González, Head of Territorial Management of Ecopetrol.
The Agrosol program is a Rural Development commitment of Ecopetrol, through which it seeks to recover and strengthen the agricultural activities carried out by producers located in the areas of influence of the Company, individually reinforcing specific skills of their production systems, identifying in a participatory manner market needs and opportunities and transferring agricultural solutions that make their agricultural model more efficient and productive.
