Cuban Vice Prime Minister pays tribute to national heroes in Santiago de Cuba

Inés María Chapman Waugh, member of the Central Committee of the Party and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic, arrived at the Patrimonial Cemetery of Santa Ifigenia, in Santiago de Cuba, this morning to pay tribute to the nation’s heroes at the well-known site. like the Altar of the Homeland.

Together with Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, first secretary of the Party in the province, the stateswoman placed flowers before the urn that houses the remains of the National Hero, José Martí Pérez.

Later, he went to the funerary monument dedicated to the Bayamese patriot Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, initiator of the struggles for Cuban independence, and Father of the Homeland.

He also placed roses and lilies at the tomb of Mariana Grajales, a woman who has transcended
as the Mother of the Country for her fortitude, courage and dedication to the libertarian cause, encouraging her numerous offspring to combat Spanish colonialism.

Visibly moved, Chapman Waugh walked towards the monolith known as the eternal rock, where the ashes of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz are kept. There she offered flowers and affection to the memory of an extraordinary man, whose commitment to the sovereignty and development of Cuba is only comparable to the immense work of altruism that she promoted from the deepest conviction that Homeland is Humanity.

With this tribute, the visit of the vice prime minister to Santiago de Cuba ended, in which – as part
of the work system of the Government of the nation – evaluated the progress of maintenance and investments to rehabilitate the hydraulic infrastructure of the province.
