Due to the presence of pests, such as cockroaches, the Ministry of Health closed this Tuesday five commercial establishments in Ibagué.

The authorities carried out control operations for 12 hours in sectors such as El Totumo and La Samaria, a few days before the Colombian Folkloric Festival begins.

“We found inconsistencies in the documentation of these establishments, presence of pests, fungi, cockroaches and that is why we took the closure measure,” said the Secretary of Health, Liliana Ospina.

In the Totumo sector, for example, the conditions of agrotourism farms and accommodations were verified, leaving two closures as results.

In La Samaria, on the other hand, three closures were carried out, also due to the presence of pests.

“In the afternoon and evening, 21 visits were made to the Samaria sector, specifically commercial establishments that sell food. Three closure measures were taken there, two of them preferred to do it voluntarily, and one of them was done due to the presence of pests“added the secretary.

Finally, the sanctioned establishments must fully comply with the measures imposed by the Mayor’s Office. in order to protect the health of citizens.

“We continue to carry out operations to prevent poisoning, gastrointestinal diseases or other situations that alter or put at risk the health of citizens and visitors,” he concluded.
